## Why these two authors

Romano and Dietmar came to this book from opposite ends of the discipline. They do not share a vantage point, they share an approach.

Romano approaches enterprise architecture from the frontier: as a transformation strategist, platform engineer, and advocate for cybernetic, AI-augmented organizations, he defines what architecture must become in a world of continuous change. Dietmar approaches it from the inside: as a practitioner who has spent over two decades implementing, governing, and integrating architecture into the operational, regulatory, and security realities of large enterprises, from ERP landscapes to global identity frameworks.

This book reflects that complementarity. The first movement is definitional: what is architecture, and what must it achieve in a modern enterprise? The second is constructive: how do you actually build it, selecting platforms, governing services, scaling teams? The third is integrative: how does architecture become real by embedding itself into business strategy, security frameworks, and governance structures so that it enables rather than restricts?

Romano and Dietmar represent this arc jointly. Neither could have written this book alone. Together, they cover the full spectrum from vision to execution.
